Language Paper 1 – Creative Reading and Writing, fiction reading and writing.

 Extract based exam. Short story provided to test students’ analytical skills.

Information retrieval, writer’s use of language and structure to impact a reader and evaluation skills will be covered across this unit.
Language Paper 2 – Writer’s Viewpoints.

Non-fiction reading and writing.
 
Two extracts, one modern, one contemporary. Information retrieval, synthesis of information, writer’s use of language and comparison skills will be covered across this unit. 
Speaking and Listening 

As part of the AQA specification, students are required to complete a speaking and listening assessment. This will be marked by their teacher. Students can choose what their topic is. 
 Students will be taught to structure their presentation to provide interest and insight. 
 They will achieve a pass, merit or distinction.

Focus on refining skills and moving beyond a grade 4+. 
Following on from Pre-Public Examinations, teachers will create bespoke run-in plans tailored to the needs of individual students and focus on deficits in knowledge, skills or understanding in preparation for the GCSE examinations.  Exam Season
