A Christmas Carol – 19^th Century Novel Students will complete the reading of the text and additional essay style analytical paragraphs to demonstrate awareness of the writer’s intentions, writer’s use of form language and structure, as well as a consideration of the social and historical context of the novel.	Macbeth – Shakespeare text Students will complete the reading of the text and additional essay style analytical paragraphs to demonstrate awareness of writer’s intentions, writer’s use of form, language and structure, as well as a consideration of the social and historical context of this seminal text.	Power and conflict poetry Students will complete the reading of 15 poems from a variety of poets with the theme of Power and Conflict. Students will complete additional essay style analytical paragraphs to demonstrate awareness of the writer’s intentions, writers use of form, language and structure, as well as a consideration of the social and historical context of each of the poems.

Autumn	Spring	Summer
An Inspector Calls – 20^th Century play Students will complete the reading of the text and additional essay style analytical paragraphs to demonstrate awareness of writer’s intentions, writer’s use of form language and structure, as well as a consideration of the social and historical context of the novel.	Unseen Poetry Students will used their enhanced poetry skills to ambitiously and forensically analyse a range of unseen poems in preparation for an essay style response that sees their analytical skills tested. They will explore a range of creative and thought provoking 21^st Century poetry that evokes feelings and emotions and supports students’ individual expression and understanding.	Exam Season
