PSHE (Key Stage 4)

Intent

The PSHE curriculum has been meticulously designed to meet the statutory requirements due in 2026, ensuring pupils are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to thrive in modern society. It provides a safe and inclusive space for pupils to explore strategies for managing their mental wellbeing, including the development of positive self-esteem and body image. Pupils are encouraged to develop empathy, foster allyship, and become upstanding citizens who contribute positively to their communities. They are challenged to critically evaluate and reject harmful online narratives, recognise unhealthy relationships, and understand how to identify and report risks effectively. The curriculum also includes essential training in basic first aid, empowering pupils with the confidence and practical skills to respond appropriately in emergency situations.

External providers are embedded throughout the curriculum to enrich pupils’ learning experiences. These partnerships offer expert-led sessions on sexual health, the impact and prevention of crime, and invaluable life skills such as financial literacy, career readiness, and the confidence to pursue higher education and a wide range of career pathways. This curriculum not only meets statutory expectations but also nurtures socially responsible, emotionally resilient, and aspirational young people who are prepared to navigate the complexities of life with integrity and purpose.
